Understanding the Unintentional Harm in the Helping Field:

Let's build us up, rather than tear us down

Most people get into birth work or working with parents because they want to help people. They want to make the world a better place and support their communities. But what happens when the people who have set out to make a difference end up hurting each other along the way?

People in the helping field would not set out to intentionally harm another person, so how does it happen? How do the people who are most committed to making a difference and helping others end up hurting their peers?

In short, because humans are complicated.

Everyone experiences the world differently. Everyone has different experiences, trauma’s, beliefs, values, understandings, education, cultures and so much more.

In this one of a kind workshop we will be exploring why and how differences are being used as tools to keep us separated, even by communities that believe in inclusion and diversity.
